Laila
This was the day we got her!
We adopted Laila our "Boxador" (Boxer/Lab mix) from the Franklin County Dog Shelter on 9-9-08 and we could not have gotten a better dog! Sure I am partial but she bounced around, in fact we are her THIRD family and she was less than a year old when we got her. Well...she is STUCK with us now! She is smart, has personality, a little sass...get's us tons of compliments and really thanks to the time to took training her she helps keep the foster dogs in line!
Brady - my first ever foster failure!
I love his 'How you do'in' smile!
Brady...well what a rough start. This guy was bit by a snake (he was an outdoor only dog), was the "outsider" of the pack, and was hit by a car. Thankfully a great volunteer in Kentucky stepped up and ran over to the guy's house to get him before Brady was "taken out back and shot." My rescue friend Brady couldn't stand, they made a stretcher out of the car mat to move him and got him right to the ER vet.
After a month funds were low and my rescue stepped up to take him. He was still underweight (we got him at 21lbs and he is now a healthy 37lbs) he couldn't walk on his front left leg and apparently just learned to deal with the pain. Brady has been to several vets and several specialists...after I started taking him "off-roading" we were able to get his muscles built back up in his legs and he now uses it...sure it's not 100% but at least we saved the leg.
And Brady is now part of our family...July 3rd is his gotcha day! I just couldn't let him go...

J.D. - foster
Dean's shelter picture
Well J.D. was "Dean" when I rescued him from the shelter. My mom begged me to save him...rather "Put a hold on him." Sadly it's do or die time when the animals are on the E-list. So we pulled him.
He was a Christmas rescue coming to me on the 22nd, getting vetted the 23rd, and then off for our holiday wirlwind with us on the 24th.
This name may not be the best for him but I was calling him Jimmy Dean and well I didn't feel like naming a dog after a breakfast sausage so I took the initials. I suppose it could be Jack Daniels, John Denver, etc but he is JD now.
Odds are he will find himself living with my parents - my dad currently works nights but will be retiring soon, and well JD already had my mom smitten when she saw him and his "wonky" ear. Yes the ear on his right when looking at him folds backwards and is well...wonky.

Izzy - foster (she's baaaaack)
Ah my Izzy....
She has been returned (my first foster returned in two years). So now we are working to find her a better match. They said she showed aggression - yet I haven't seen it. :0(
I have a feeling the girlfriend was jealous of the time Izzy was getting with her boyfriend. Every morning she went for a 3 mile jog, and when Izzy's new dad wasn't working 12 hour days they went to the dog park for at least 45 min to work on fetch, frisbee, and toning her muscles. (Izzy is one muscular girl and would kick butt in agility or frisbee competitions)
On the upside Columbus Dog Connection just got a mobile spay and neuter clinic and this picture is on the back - 7' big Izzy hitting the roads of Ohio!
And my friend watched Izzy for the holiday weekend and made a smile box for her:

Boo - foster (again didn't name this guy)
Well Boo was returned to Columbus Dog Connection...apparently he bit someone.
Now a bite isn't a deal breaker for me because there are MANY reasons for a dog to bite - injury, illness, rough housing, feeling threatened, defending itself, etc...so I have been keeping an eye on him. I can say that he is food aggressive, so it makes me wonder what life he had with his prior family, since I do get dogs that are food aggressive initially but we work on it, then they learn there ALWAYS is enough food, water, treats, toys, etc to go around.
This guy is a 4 year old with energy to burn so hopefully he breaks the heart of someone who likes to go jogging or is willing to give Boo things to keep him busy - he has a nose and would love to use it!

Xander - Foster
Xander is about 7 months old shep mix? and just pure unconditional puppy love! We rescued him from Clinton Co literally hours before he was going to be euthanized for lack of space.
Xander rides well in a car, is getting more comfortable....oh yeah and HATES fireworks. Cats interest him - because they run and well it's fun to chase when you are a puppy wanting to play. This boy will be a bigger dog but he is definitely striking!
