Dressing up the toasting flutes
My FI wanted some toasting flutes and none of the sets I was really sold on. I wasn't one for anything too over the top for me keep it simple.
This is the flute he picked out and had engraved at Things Remembered.
Then I decided to dress it up a bit...
What you need:
Toasting Flutes
"Seed beads" the little glass beads
Fishing Line
Glue (I used E600)
Scissors and Tape are good to have on hand as well
I purchased some fuschia, orange, and white seed beads. Dumped them into a tupperware container to mix them up for random stringing and set out to string a bunch on clear fishing line.
Once I was strung I wrapped my beads around the stem of the flute to give it a different look. (see below)
To secure the beads leave about an inch of fishing line unstrung and glue it above where you want to start stringing the beads so you can wrap over that. I used my handy dandy E600 glue for this. As you wrap, stop every so often to push down or up depending on where you started wrapping your beads (after your glue has dried on the fishing line) to prevent gaps in the rows and to keep it tight.
Once you get almost to the top apply a little E600 again and wrap over it. Once you end the beads where you choose wrap the fishing line around it a few times. It tucks nicely behind the beads and into the glue. Tape the end to the glass to let it dry over night then trim it off.
